Where are my Applicants?

If you don't find the applications you expected to find in the list of applications, nor in the rejected list. The reason could be that you have used both a stage for indicating that an application was rejected and the reject functionality.

It is recommended to not use a stage to indicate that an application is rejected and only use the reject functionality.

To resolve this issue set the reject toggle to show applications that are not rejected. Then make sure the only stage filter added is Rejected.

Now you should see the missing applications in the list. Then set the stage on these applications to the stage where the application should have been before it was set to rejected, if you don't know, set it to Inbox then use the Reject functionality to properly reject these applications.
